The Coolant Change in B15
Sub-item 5 is an engine coolant replacement, and it is the longest-interval job in B15 by a wide margin. Acura fills these cars with Type 2 blue long-life coolant, and the first replacement is not due until around 10 years or 120,000 miles. After that it comes round roughly every 5 years or 60,000 miles. Plenty of owners sell the car before ever seeing a 5.
Use Acura Type 2 or a coolant explicitly certified as compatible with it. The universal green antifreeze sold at parts counters uses a different corrosion inhibitor package, and mixing chemistries can drop a gel out of suspension that blocks the radiator and heater core. Acura’s coolant comes pre-mixed and is not meant to be diluted further.
The work is more than draining and refilling. These engines are good at trapping air, and a pocket left in the system creates a hot spot and a temperature needle that wanders. Bleeding the system properly through the bleeder screw with the engine at operating temperature is the step that separates a coolant service done right from one that hands you an overheating problem you did not previously have.
When Is the Acura B15 Service Due?
There is no fixed mileage for this. The Maintenance Minder models oil life from engine temperature, journey length, load and engine revolutions, so a car used for short winter trips reaches zero far sooner than one covering steady highway miles. Most Acura owners see the oil item come round somewhere between 5,000 and 12,000 miles.
You get plenty of notice. A wrench appears at 15% oil life, the warning becomes firmer at 5%, and at 0% the readout switches to a negative distance showing how far overdue the car has become. Fifteen percent is when to call the shop, not when to worry.
B15 Across the Acura Range
Every Acura with a Maintenance Minder can produce B15 — from the ILX and Integra through the TLX and RDX to the MDX, RLX, ZDX and TSX. The service list stays constant across the range while the invoice does not, because oil capacity, fluid specification and labor time are all engine-dependent.

Does Acura Complimentary Maintenance Cover B15?
Not in full. The complimentary program is deliberately narrow: A1 and B1 services only, running two years or 24,000 miles on model year 2023 and 2024 vehicles and just the first scheduled service within 12 months or 12,000 miles from 2025 onward. B15 contains work outside that boundary.
That does not make it worthless here. The oil and rotation component of B15 can still fall inside the program while the additional items are billed, so insist the invoice separates them. Note too that coverage transfers with the car, so a used Acura may still have time left on it.
What B15 Means for SH-AWD Acuras
The B15 work itself is identical whether your Acura drives the front wheels or all four. What changes is what tends to arrive alongside it. Super Handling All-Wheel Drive uses a torque-vectoring rear unit that Honda does not fit to its own models, and it carries a fluid service of its own: sub-item 6, rear differential fluid, due at around 15,000 miles initially and every 30,000 miles after.
So if you drive an SH-AWD MDX, RDX, TLX or ZDX, do not be surprised to see B15 arrive with a 6 attached. Front-drive Acuras never show a 6, because there is no rear differential to service.
